VOCES8 sings Franz Biebl’s setting of the ‘Ave Maria’.
‘Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae
et concepit de Spiritu sancto.’
The angel of God visited Maria
and she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
‘Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
Et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.’
Hail Mary, Full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
‘Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.’
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
Holy Mary, pray for us now and in the hour of our death.
Amen.

It does take a lot of work. These people practice, practise, practice.
I loved singing this when I was in college, and I still love it to this day. This is how I imagine heaven will sound like.
You sing so well – I so wish that you'd performed the whole work, including the climactic ET VERBUM CARO FACTUM EST! I hope you do record a complete version sometime
A lovely performance of a beautiful piece! Or, actually, a portion of a beautiful piece.
Leaves me breathless.
The high voices sound more like boy sopranos than women which is favorable. Well done.
This is heaven on earth. Out attempts to perform this are sacrilege by comparison. I'm putting my score in the compost bin.
Wow. If they would perform some Beach Boys tune… Seriously, i imagine that would be great.
This is gorgeous. I have put it in my paperwork it is to be performed at my funeral
I have to agree with Melanie, I have enjoyed many TTBB versions of this. But this performance is possibly the Best. Wonderfully produced and performed. Thank you Voces8 for demonstrating how powerful the full range of SATB voices can be. Bravo!
The best I have heard. Superb. Thank you.
God's grace channeled through music…
Fantastic tempo etc. and ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL… for SATB.. Still Partial to the Chanticleer standard. Would be happy listing to this version any day…
How can anything be so so beautiful
Beautiful!
BEAUTIFUL
Belíssimo. Ave Maria.
My heart just melted
Stunning. Just stunning. This chorus is as close to perfection as I'll ever hear. This Ave is so richly woven that one just sits, transfixed by the harmony and this group's execution of the work. As a former chorister myself (in my salad days!) I stand in awe of this group.
Amazing! And that one stylized scoop at 3:52 just seemed to add something special!
Interesting with female voices. This was originalley written for an all male choir.
Try to listen to this version – so different. Both versions are extremely moving 🙂

Wunderbar !
Find tears falling down my face every time I listen to this. Can't believe I'm seeing you guys tonight at St Judes
Stunning to the ears
Mac Miller sings a beautiful rendition of this.
Beautiful tone..
The lighting makes them look like a painting.
I’m pretty sure I heard the devil’s interval in there…
For shame pagan heathen and other outdated perjorative
Ha giggling spellcheck
B is a good choice for a key. It seems to fit every member's range exceptionally well, especially Ms. Haines, whose voice reminds me of a pure silicon sphere, free of impurities.
Such a fine piece of music… Well done. Oh, and the guy at 3:17 – I want to marry him…
I don't know how y'all do it, but this tough old fireman sits here and baby-cries when y'all sing. This is just so perfect and so heavenly.
As a always, LOVED IT..LOVE Choral, Harmony, Classical, Bach, Handel and so much more…
Ecclesiatical music is (in my experience) for praising GOD. I thank you for your being, as everyone who hears this is praised along with their GOD. superb… Superb!
So beautiful…shakes me to my core.
just a wonderful example of the purpose of music, how it emotes the soul and the spirit. i am really speechless w/ satisfaction.
