Ubisoft (during their Quarterly earnings call) have us an inside look at exactly what strategies they intend to pursue in the coming weeks, months and years.

One of those strategies, is “play to Earn”… A ruthless, predatory model of monetizing the userbase that will leverage NFTs, Blockchain, and aggressive advertising to engage and snare large groups of players who desperately need, or want, to earn money.

  1. Most comments on this video: AAA Games sucks, i'll stick to indie games.
AA and B grade and other MIDDLE games from publishers like THQNordic,Focus Home and etc. : Are we a fucking joke to you?

Man. "The Age of Two Extremes" is still strong i see?

  2. Play to earn makes in game assets real. This is the future the same as YouTube and Twitch were to having years ago. This is the best thing to happen to gaming since online multiplayer.

  3. I've tried play2earn games, they're extremely boring. I have no intention to do it again.

  4. Guy.. have you looked at Phantom galaxies? You handpicked the dogshit to make your point.

Quit your new woke attitude and look at how this new wave of gaming can help your viewers, not just piss them off.

  5. "play to earn" is just a fancy word for "pay to win"
nobody in the west will ever make reasonable money per hour with it unless they first invest throusands into the system.
it sounds great to just farm gold in an mmo for 4 hours a day instead of going to work, but its never gonna happen, simply because the whole buisness concept is that you go to work irl to buy products ingame (mostly from farmers in third world countries where 1-2$/h is a decent wage)

  6. every time a game says "play to earn", you just know youll get like 3 cents for playing the game for 5 hours.

  7. I could see a legit use for NFTs in digital card games to allow players to own, trade, and sell their digital cards. Even could offer to have the nft to be converted to a physical card or physical back to digital for a fee.

  8. For security in the transaction system behind the game NFT could be good
for a game it is just exploitative and looking more like a pyramid scam

  9. It seems to me that the gaming distributors need to "earn" our trust back…the gamers should not have to "earn" anything….

  10. I checked out a couple of the "play to earn" platforms on my mobile devices and didn't stay with them very long….

  11. Problem is when you dissect statements and take things out of context, the big difference is one which clearly states “earn content” it makes it poss oboe for them to sell stuff normal players unlock for free.
Exclusive dlc items have long been pay to own, GTAONLINE is the real offender!
It cripples players abilities to make in game cash and sell that directly as shark cards, expensive shark cards too, forces pvp content we never expected when we invested so much time in the game, to much to abandon.

  12. If you're making $1, Ubisoft is probably making $10. There is no altruism with corporations. You will be used. Like Bill Burr said, "I don't know what you're up to, but I know you don't wanna make LESS money."
