Carol Burnett pays tribute to her best friend of more than 60 years, Julie Andrews, at the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute on June 9, 2022 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. THE 48TH AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A TRIBUTE TO JULIE ANDREWS aired on TNT on June 16, 2022.

Other presenters at the event included Steve Carell, Bo Derek, Héctor Elizondo, Cynthia Erivo, Jane Seymour, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Brandi Burkhardt and cast members from THE SOUND OF MUSIC – Angela Cartwright, Duane Chase, Nicholas Hammond, Kym Karath and Debbie Turner.

Additional taped messages included Dick Van Dyke, Anne Hathaway, Ariana DeBose, Hugh Jackman, Kristin Chenoweth, Kelly Clarkson, Nicola Coughlan and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

  20. What a beautiful relationship these two have. Incredibly amazing careers and performers in every sense of the word.
    Julie Andrews is about the only celebrity alive that I can think of who has the "Old Elegance" of an era gone by of what Hollywood used to be. Incredible voice, incredible actress, incredible dancer, incredible mother and role model.
    Thank God I've had a chance to grow up watching such a woman perform. My only regret is never seeing her in person.
    Thank you, Dame Andrews, for all the memories!

  29. Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall. Sublime. So funny. I remember seeing it on black & white tv as a child. The Mike Nichols and Ladybird story, omg, omg, omg! LOL What a wonderful long friendship it has been, two of the best ladies in the biz (or artform) and two of the most beloved, and two of my very favorites since childhood.
