8. My personal opinion is that Hound Dog represents the high water mark of Rock n Roll. I would stack this song against any other Rock n Roll song of any era. No song rocks harder that this song. Play any song of any group in Rock history of any off shoot of Rock and then play this song. This song is amazing.

23. i want to set the record straight and also check some people with weak comments on this song. first off the song Hounddog is written by 2 white guys. leiber and stoller were a song writing team that did not deny a white person or black person from singing their song. i know some of these comments come from adults and you should be ashamed of yourself for trying to shut someone down for shouting out big mama thornton. who do you think you are? big shout to big mama…elvis had success with the song but no one stole anything. just like mahalia jackson did gershwin's summertime song …elvis did that's alright mama by big boy crudup…this is america…the good the bad and the ugly…so when some good comes out thru music please keep your crab comments to yourself and let the music make ppl happy, believe it or not there is a strong rockabilly influence on early rock n roll music…yes black folks were forerunners in the genre but elvis did not steal something from big mama that wasnt even hers to begin with. so it is actually 2 white guys, again, i want to make that clear even thou i dont want to. thats not why i typed that song title in to the youtube search bar…there is a total lack of respect going on here in some of these comments and just like the King told them good ol boys down in houston , that if my back up singers dont come then i dont come…that was his response when someone told him he can leave the black girls behind.
