Granada vs Real Madrid: Score prediction & betting tips

Real Madrid won 4-2 when these two clashed at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in October.

This will be their 14th meeting in La Liga since Granada were promoted back to the top-flight for 2011/12 having been away for 36 years.

The previous matches have produced, unsurprisingly, 12 Real Madrid wins and just one victory for El Graná; Los Blancos have scored 41 goals in those matches.

Granada’s historic season continues.

On Friday evening, they were involved in a very dramatic game in San Sebastián against Real Sociedad.

Granada rushed into a 2-0 lead in the first half with Antonio Puertas and Roberto Soldado both scoring.

However, they’d seemingly thrown it away as Sociedad replied with two goals of their own to seemingly snatch a draw.

Nevertheless, with just a minute to go, Domingos Duarte scored a dramatic winner for El Graná.

That means Granada have now taken seven points from their last three games, beating Alavés and drawing with Valencia at home.

Overall, they’re now on 50 points which, when three points for a win is taken into account, is their second best ever top-flight campaign.

Their only higher Primera División points total came in 1971/72 when they finished sixth, just 11 points off champions Real Madrid that season.

This season’s superb form is even more remarkable given that Diego Martínez’s side are newly-promoted.

In the table after Friday’s win, Granada are ninth, just one point below the European places.

A shock win here and Granada could be in with a shout of European qualification for the very first time.

Real Madrid: Champions elect?

Real Madrid meanwhile are on the verge of the title.

On Friday night, they welcomed relegation threatened Deportivo Alavés to their temporary home of Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano.

After just 11 minutes, Ferland Mendy was fouled in the box and captain for the day Karim Benzema stepped up and converted the spot-kick.

This should be no surprise as Frenchman has scored all 16 penalties he’s taken for either Real Madrid or his only other club Olympique Lyonnais.

On the subject of penalties, Real have scored a penalty in three consecutive Liga games for the first time in 14 years.

Early in the second half, Benzema turned provider, putting the ball on a plate for Marco Asensio to tap in.

After VAR review, the goal was given and that was enough to wrap up a 2-0 victory.

Los Blancos have now won all eight matches since the restart, never falling behind and conceding just two goals in this period.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are currently four points clear of Barça in the title race and Los Merengues have the superior head to head record in Clásicos this season.

So, five points or more from their remaining three games will see them be champions.

After this they host Villarreal on Thursday before concluding in the south side of Madrid against seemingly doomed to relegation Leganés.

A win in this one and it could be time to celebrate come Thursday night back on home turf.

Diego Martínez rarely changes too much when it comes to his starting XI and that trend is likely continue.

Almost ever present Rui Silva missed their last two games before three weekend due to a groin injured but is fit enough to continue ahead of deputy Aarón Escandell.

In defence, Germán is a doubt so Jesús Vallejo will continue alongside Domingos Duarte.

José Martínez would be left out.

At full-back, Carlos Neva and Víctor Díaz could continue in place of İsmail Köybaşı with Dimitri Foulquier pushed into midfield.

Álex Martínez is injured.

In the middle, Yan Brice Eteki and Yangel Herrera could start with Ramon Azeez on the bench.

Antonio Puertas come could be on the left looking to support the front two, Roberto Soldado and Carlos Fernández.

Antoñín, Darwin Machís and Ángel Montoro will be options off the bench.

Real Madrid team news vs Granada

Zinedine Zidane has utilised his squad expertly throughout this hectic period and that is what will see them to the title.

Thibaut Courtois has been one of their most consistent performers in goal.

At the back, they were without both Dani Carvajal and captain Sergio Ramos on Friday as both were suspended.

However, as they beat Alavés and kept a clean sheet, it ended up being a well-earned rest for them both.

Nevertheless, both will return in place of Éder Militão and makeshift right-back Lucas Vázquez.

Raphaël Varane and Marcelo will make up the back four, the latter rotated in for Ferland Mendy.

Nacho is injured.

In midfield, Zidane went with his tried and trusted trio on Friday of Casemiro, Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.

However, the more defensively solid Federico Valverde could displace Modrić for this one.

In attack, Real have an embarrassment of riches.

Eden Hazard is just back after a knock and could be saved for Villarreal on Thursday.

So, Vinícius Júnior would start on the right.

On the other side, Isco’s experience could see him get the nod.

However, any one of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo (those two started on Friday), Gareth Bale, Brahim Díaz or Vázquez could fill that role.

It’s unlikely to be James Rodríguez though; he’s not been in the last two matchday squads.

Karim Benzema will lead the line after scoring his 23rd of the season three days ago.

Mariano Díaz is his backup; Luka Jović is injured again.
