In this video, Sam and Jake with Kalos Services show the steps of a thorough highwall ductless blower wheel cleaning. They remove and clean a Mitsubishi ductless mini-split blower wheel.
First, you must lift up the shroud and removes the air filters from both sides. Then, remove the front cover entirely and slides the horizontal vanes right out. If you want to remove the face of the unit, you have to remove plastic clips on the bottom to expose the Phillips-head screws underneath. Once you remove the screws, you can remove the face.
To access the blower wheel on a highwall ductless system, you have to release the drain pan and let it angle downward. (Remove water from the pan beforehand.) To remove the blower wheel, you will need to remove the set screw, remove the screws along the side to move the coil out of the way, and then pull the blower wheel out.
You can clean the blower wheel outside with a hose, sometimes even using a mild, safe cleaner like Refrigeration Technologies Viper EVAP+. Allow the blower wheel to dry fully before putting it back.
Once the blower wheel is dry, insert it back into the unit and reverse all of the steps you took to remove the blower wheel. Then, you can clean up the job site, finish up the customer communication, and go home.
