My name is Jacqueline Bush and I’m an editorial in celebrity hairstyles. My clientele has included Faith Hill, Mark Ruffalo, Terrance Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Krakowski. I want to be able to show you that hair isn’t as intimidating or as hard as you think it is and I want you be able to have fun with it and do what your vision is with your hair. I am now going to show you how to get hair like Miley Cyrus. The beauty about Miley’s hair is she likes her hair you know, she’s a beach girl she likes her hair a little bit more undone, a little bit more wild. Which as you can see, Monica’s hair is already doing a little bit. One thing that both Monica and Miley do share is that they both want to get a little more volume at the roots. So, I’m going to spray a little bit of dry shampoo in it, just going to spray at the roots to the mid-shaft, not really get those ends, I’m not worried about them too much. And then I’m just going to blow dry it in to lock in that product, and then I’m going to show you how I’m going to curl her hair. So, I spray root to the mid-shaft; we’re just going to blow that in a little bit. Now you notice I’m not too concerned with Monica making her hair super smooth, super polished. Remember the key to Miley’s look is it’s a little undone. So we’re going to take a section of her hair using a 1 inch barrel curling iron, I’m going to smooth the hair, then I’m going to take the iron, pointing vertically, I’m going to wrap the hair around the iron, leaving the end out because Monica already has a little bit of a bend. Even if your hair is on the straighter side, I always like to leave the end out. And I can curl that again at the end if I need to. You know, it could almost even go a little straighter. So, as we go around the head, what we’re going to do is curl the hair in different directions. We’re also going to curl it in two different ways. The first method I just showed you was taking the iron vertically. Now we’re just going to take this next section, I’m going to go the opposite direction which would be towards her face. If you’ve seen our other hair videos, you should be familiar with this curl. From the very end, leaving that end out, curling up towards her roots very gently. It’s a very tiny movement. I’m opening and closing the iron while rotating my hand to make sure the whole hair gets curled. And my next section, curling again. In the beginning, it’s just about getting a curl in the hair. Afterwards, you can eye it, after you have your basic curl in. I mean, that’s the key if you want something quick and cute. I’m not really messing with the bottom of her hair because it already has a good curl. But, if you hair does not, you would definitely want to do that as well. And you can vary the section size from 1 inch sections, maybe half inch sections, you can even do some 2 inch sections. I like to vary up the size, vary up the direction, just change it all up. That’s what keeps it looking nice and natural. So now we have a little curl in there, I want to wait for that curl to cool. This side feels pretty good, that side is not quite done. Take a little bit of molding paste, just rub that in the tips of my fingers nice and hot, the product. And then I’m just going to start from the mid-shaft, working my way down to the ends, piecing it out, then going back through to the top of the hair. You don’t want to start at the top, because otherwise you might end up with greasy roots. Then you’re going to feel like you have to wash your hair again and that is very annoying. Work it through. Now we’re going to take a wide-toothed comb, just brushing it through a little more. And this time, instead of teasing underneath, which is what I showed you guys before, I’m just going to tease a little bit through, ever so slightly. Not big and hard. See if I do that, you get funky, definitely not Miley Cyrus. But just slightly, it just breaks it up a little. As you can see, I’m really just eyeing it and playing with it. Let’s rough it up a little more. There you have the Miley Cyrus beach wave.
