Jessica Alves has spoken of the struggle she faces with her voice as a trans woman as she says her ‘androgynous’ tone leaves people confused. The media personality, 38, who has spent £800,000 on a total of 78 surgeries to transform her appearance over the years, is set to fly to Thailand for a voice feminsation procedure on Sunday. Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jessica, who underwent sex reassignment surgery at the start of 2022 having come out publicly as transgender in 2022, admits she’s turned down work as her voice has had a crippling affect on her confidence. Difficulties: Jessica Alves, 38, has spoken of the struggle she faces with her voice as a trans woman as she says her ‘androgynous’ tone leaves people confused She added that she is unable to find love as men lose interest when they discover she is transexual. ‘It isn’t a male voice but it isn’t a female voice either which leaves people very confused over the phone as they don’t know if they are talking to a man or a woman. ‘It is very exhausting for me to always correct the tone and the pitch of my voice when talking to people or when I am on a date, as I think that my voice is the only thing that gives away the fact that I am a trans woman. Changes: The media personality, who has spent £800,000 on 78 surgeries to transform her looks over the years, is set to fly to Thailand for a voice feminsation procedure on Sunday ‘I have been turning down a lot of job offers for TV roles where I have to speak a lot as I don’t like my voice and it plays a lot of my confidence. ‘Currently most of the TV shows I do are in Brazil, Germany and Italy and those are long term contracts which I have to fulfil even though I hate my voice and I don’t want to speak much. ‘Having voice feminisation surgery will give me a lot more confidence to do more TV shows.’ Looking back: Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jessica underwent sex reassignment surgery at the start of 2022 having come out publicly as transgender in 2022 Vocal: Jessica says she’s turned down work as her voice has had a crippling affect on her confidence She will remain in Thailand for a month to recover and will undergo voice therapy to adjust her speech. The screen star will not be allowed to talk for a full 10 days before starting her voice therapy. Honest: Jessica says she is unable to find love as men lose interest when they discover she is transexual Jessica continued: ‘After the voice surgery I will be more confident to do more TV shows in England and also to go on dates without feeling self conscious about how my voice sounds. ‘So far I have done 78 surgeries and I have spent about £800,000, and this year I would like to finish all my surgeries and then find a relationship and eventually get married.’ The star insisted she is never short of male attention when she goes out but added: ‘Most of the time when they realise that I am a transexual woman they lose their interest.’ She concluded: ‘February last year I had my sex change surgery and my body works in the same way as a biological woman. ‘I just can’t get pregnant but otherwise it is all the same down there.’ Jessica previously revealed her plans to undergo a womb transplant so she can fall pregnant, even though the procedure has never been undertaken on a transgender woman. Dating: The star, who was pictured out with her trainer Roberto Gatto in London this week, says she struggles to find love as men lose interest when they learn she’s transexual She is hoping to have the groundbreaking surgery as she becomes increasingly desperate to have a child. She told Closer magazine last year: ‘Even it cost a million pounds to have one, I’d find a way to do it. I would love a baby that has my own genes and blood, and I have my frozen sperm so I could use that for IVF. ‘All I wanted was to be a woman and having gender reassignment surgery was the happiest day of my life. But having a womb would be even better – I would feel complete if I could give birth. ‘I would love to have a brood of children. I would make me so happy to be called ”mummy”.’
