1. Jay and Amber… You haven't even scratched the surface with Barry Manilow. He has written so many songs, he's written jingles for commercials and he wrote the theme song for American Bandstand. I hope you see this, being as it was a year ago. This guy has so much talent.

19. A lot of people love Barry Manilow. He's not my cup of tea, but I have enough sense to realize that, as an entertainer, he's special. If you enjoy piano, Barry's your guy.

26. Barry Manilow was a very prolific song writer and performer. He started out playing for Bette Midler when she was playing the gay bath houses. She always encouraged him to strike out on his own and she felt he had a lot of ability. Mandy was the first really big hit he had and there were a ton that came after. He was a huge draw in Las Vegas and his shows sold out about as fast as they were posted, all women, of course. He was not highly regarded by critics as they said his music was very formulaic and his songs did all share a common progression from soft to a huge crescendo and then soft again at the end. He never really came out as gay but everyone pretty much knew that he was. He and his partner have been together for a lot of years. Weekend in New England is my favorite of all his songs.
