Real Madrid vs Mallorca: Score prediction & betting tips
Mallorca, historically, won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Son Moix.
Prior to that, Real Madrid had won five league games in a row against Mallorca, scoring 17 goals in those games.
Mallorca have won just one away game this season; that was at Ipurúa against Eibar in March.
101 Great Goals predicts: Real Madrid 3-0 Mallorca
Real Madrid vs Mallorca: What are the betting odds?
Real Madrid vs Mallorca: Match preview
Real Madrid are back top of La Liga.
On Sunday night, Los Blancos faced one of their toughest remaining games against Real Sociedad at Anoeta in San Sebastián.
It was a cagey first half with both sides matching each other.
However, early in the second half, they were awarded a penalty when Vinícius Júnior was cleaned out in full-flight.
Sergio Ramos stepped up and cooly slotted home his ninth goal of the season and second since the restart.
Then came a two minute period that would determine the destiny of the match.
Real Sociedad thought they’d equalised with just 15 minutes remaining.
Adnan Januzaj’s shot from the edge of the box beat Thibaut Courtois but it was chalked off because Mikel Merino was in an offside position and in the goalkeeper’s eye line.
Then, Madrid went up the other end and Karim Benzema brought down a cross, swivelled and scored with a neat finish.
However, Sociedad players appealed as the Frenchman controlled the ball with his shoulder/arm.
It was a decision that could have gone either way but VAR said goal.
From potentially 1-1 to 2-0 in a matter of seconds due to two very marginal calls.
However, the drama at Real Arena did not end there.
One of the men involved in one of these tight calls, Merino volleyed home with seven minutes to go to give Sociedad hope.
Nevertheless, the new defensively solid Real Madrid fairly easily held out for a vital 2-1 victory.
That win means Real Madrid are top of La Liga by virtue of their better head to head record against Barça.
If they win all of their remaining games, they will be champions for the 34th time but only third time since 2007/08.
Will they make it four wins out of four since the restart?
Mallorca to stun Madrid?
Mallorca meanwhile need points but for very different reasons.
Los Bermellones were last in action on Friday evening as they welcomed fellow strugglers Leganés.
The hosts took the lead after just nine minutes through a fantastic free-kick from Salva Sevilla.
It looked like they were going to hold onto a valuable win but, just two minutes from the end, Leganés scored an even better free-kick of their own through Óscar.
1-1 it finished at Son Moix.
That was the first point Vicente Moreno’s side have won since the restart but they remain in the relegation zone.
After back to back promotions it was always going to be a big ask for them to survive and so it has proved that way.
Famously though, they beat Real Madrid 1-0 in Palma earlier in the season.
They couldn’t do it again could they?
Real Madrid team news vs Mallorca
Given Mallorca’s miserable away form and the fact the fixtures continue to come thick and fast, Zinedine Zidane could rotate rather heavily here.
In goal, Thibaut Courtois will keep his place, looking to add to his 16 clean sheets this season.
His back-up Alphonse Areola has played just nine times since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain, the most recent of which was in the Copa del Rey on 6 February.
In defence, Sergio Ramos opened the scoring but then hobbled off in San Sebastián on Sunday.
He will not be risked with tougher games to come so, as he did in the Sociedad game, Éder Militão will deputise alongside Raphaël Varane.
Dani Carvajal will continue at right-back with Nacho injured but Marcelo could be rotated out for Ferland Mendy on the other side.
In midfield and attack is where this side could look particularly unfamiliar.
Isco and Lucas Vázquez are injured though.
But, Federico Valverde could come in as the holding player with Casemiro rested.
Having not started at Anoeta, Luka Modrić could also start.
James Rodríguez, who started in La Liga for the first time since the defeat at Son Moix on Sunday, could start once more but this time in midfield.
In attack, Eden Hazard was an unused substitute on Sunday and could be rested here too.
Vinícius Júnior, who should have been man of the match at the weekend, could also be rested.
So, Rodrygo and Marco Asensio, who scored with his first touch of the season against Valencia, could start out-wide.
Up front, Karim Benzema could get a rare rest but, with Luka Jović injured, Mariano Díaz could get an even rarer start.
With all these changes, Gareth Bale could even see his first start since the restart but I wouldn’t bank on it.
Even with all these changes, Real Madrid should beat Mallorca despite what happened at Son Moix in the Autumn.
Mallorca team news vs Real Madrid
Mallorca meanwhile have had an extra two days to prepare for this clash.
Could that help Vicente Moreno’s side pull off a shock result?
Goalkeeper Manolo Reina, who’s missed just one La Liga game so far, will need to be at his best here.
As will his defence.
Antonio Raíllo was suspended against Leganés but he’ll return at centre-back alongside Martin Valjent, displacing Aleksandar Sedlar.
Fran Gámez could keep his place instead of Joan Sastre at left-back.
In midfield, Marc Pedraza is a doubt so Salva Sevilla’s partner could be Iddrisu Baba.
Ki Sung-yueng is likely to remain on the bench.
Takefusa Kubo, on loan from Real Madrid, is eligible to play and will want to show his employers first hand just what he can do.
Lago Junior, who scored the winner against Real Madrid at Son Moix, could be on the other wing.
Up front, Dani Rodríguez could support lone front man Ante Budimir.
The other attacking options are Josep Señé, Abdón and Cucho Hernández.
